Like many non-profit organizations whose mission is simply to serve the community, the Strasburg-Heifler Library is suffering the consequence of declining funding. Drastic cuts in funding make it difficult to maintain operations, purchase supplies, and acquire the books and reference materials used by residents, including senior adults, children, students, and parents.
When the lack of funds forced the library to limit its hours, the board of directors took action, organizing the “Spring Fling Annual Fund Raiser.”
To assist the library in this critical fund raising endeavor, a limited edition fine art print entitled “Mazzi’s Kitchen” was donated and awarded to the highest bidder at the “Spring Fling” auction on February 26th.
“Mazzi’s Kitchen” is a portrait of the owner and founder of Mazzi’s Elegant Dining restaurant in Leola, Pennsylvania. This Bacharach print generated a good deal of interest and bidding. According to Jackie Groff, Treasurer of the Library Board of Directors, the auction was a great success.
